Travelers arriving in Florence

Florence is easy to reach from anywhere in Europe with a maximum of one stopover. Once you arrive in Florence, the Congress venue is located just 8 kilometers from the airport. Direct flights are also available from many major European hubs.

The International Florence Airport “Amerigo Vespucci” (IATA code – FLR) can be easily reached by taxi, with the ‘Vola in bus’ public shuttle service, which connects the airport to the main railway station, Santa Maria Novella Station, in just 15-20 minutes.

The taxi average fare is 30 euro.
The Airport Shuttle Bus service is provided by Volainbus.

  • Departures from A. Vespucci Airport (exit the airport from the departures area, walk past the taxi stand and within a few steps you will find a bus stop).
  • Departures from Florence City Centre (at the SITA bus station Via Santa Caterina da Siena, 15/17, or next to the taxi stand at the Santa Maria Novella central train station).

The Airport is served by the new tramway T2 that in 20 minute reaches the Florence city center. The cost of the ticket to and from the airport is 1.50 € (the same cost as the single ticket).

Travelers arriving in Pisa

The International Airport of Pisa “Galileo Galilei” (IATA code- PSA) is located 80 km from the city center of Florence and is connected to the Tuscan capital by train (every hour) and by bus (full flight coverage with 18 journeys per day).

Travelers arriving in Bologna

The International Airport of Bologna “Guglielmo Marconi” (IATA code – BLQ) is located 100 km away from Florence. You can catch the “Appenino Shuttle” directly from the airport to the Florence city center, or you can take a 25-minute fast train to Florence from Bologna’s central railway station.

By Train

High speed trains connect Florence with every major Italian city and many European hubs.

Florence’s main railway station, Santa Maria Novella, is located twenty minutes by foot from the Congress Venue.

By Bus

Florence has a comprehensive network of local bus routes. Most of them stop at the main railway station, Santa Maria Novella. Bus tickets can be purchased at most coffee bars and kiosks. Fare is € 1,50 multiple trips, valid up to 90 minutes and € 14,00 for a 10 trips card.

From the main railway station, take one of the following ATAF buses: 36 (to Galluzzo/Le Gore/Cascine del Riccio), 37 (to Galluzzo/Tavarnuzze), 11 (to Due Strade) and get off in Piazza Della Calza/Porta Romana.

By Car

Florence is well connected with the main Italian cities, thanks to the Italian motorway network, thus making it easy to get to Florence.

A1 Motorway Autostrada del Sole

Exit to Firenze Impruneta, follow the signs for the city centre and Piazzale di Porta Romana. Pass through the ancient gate and you arrive at Piazza della Calza.

A11 Motorway Autostrada del Mare

Get in A1 Motorway and exit to Firenze Impruneta. Follow the signs for the city centre and Piazzale di Porta Romana. Pass through the ancient gate and you arrive at Piazza della Calza.

Parking Information

There are several parking areas around the Congress Venue.

The nearest is PARCHEGGIO OLTRARNO (Firenze Parcheggi), hourly fare is euro 2. The gate for the entrance/exit supports also TELEPASS devices (charging the fare directly in current account).

By Taxis

Taxis in Florence can be ordered by phone (Tel. +39 055 4242 or 4390) or found at the official taxi stands. You cannot stop a taxi on the road.

Firenzecard  is the official museum pass of the City of Florence. It includes tickets and priority access to museums and unlimited bus travel on ATAF buses for the 72 hours following the validation. It allows free admission for those under 18 years of age who are members of the same family unit of the Firenzecard holder and European Union citizens.
