Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is a pleasure to welcome you to the MBE 2020 in Florence, Italy. Over the years, the matrix biology community has experienced a terrific development with involvement of several scientific areas ranging from basic science to potential diagnostics, devices, commercial products and therapeutics. The MBE2020 is a perfect opportunity for European scientists to exchange ideas and experiences for further achievements.
The program is organized in 9 sessions with a keynote, 18 international invited speakers and 45 poster selected for oral presentations. The program is focusing on research areas at the forefront of the field, from basic aspects of matrix biology research to the most relevant implications in human health. New technologies and tools are also a critical aspect, providing an overview of state of the art of the area. The selected topics cover key areas, including new roles and perspectives, metabolism and structures, development, bioinformatics, aging and differentiation as well as topics related with human chronic diseases such as cancer, vascular disease, and inflammation. The emerging roles of extracellular matrix molecules in signaling are also addressed in several sessions. Short talks, selected from submitted abstracts based on criteria of novelty and excellence, fit with session topics and aims to promote the research of graduate students, postdocs and new investigators. Poster sessions are also a vital part of the meeting and large part of the program is dedicated to poster sessions.
This international conference is an opportunity to foster active and productive interactions among investigators at all career levels and provide a relaxed environment to promote multi-disciplinary collaborations. The outstanding collaborative attitude of the matrix community is an excellent opportunity for young scientists to network with senior investigators. The target of the conference is an open exchange of ideas between all participants, promoting new research directions to advance development of the field.
Finally, thank you again for joining this exciting scientific meeting.
